About Selank

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is an analogue of the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin, extended with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro motif that increases resistance to enzymatic degradation.

In pre-clinical research Selank is studied for its interaction with GABAergic signalling, expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), enkephalin-degrading enzyme activity and cytokine gene expression.
